Photography for Couples and Their Pets

Pets offer us unconditional love and happiness throughout their lives, so it’s no wonder my clients want pet photography sessions. After the past couple of years of offering photography for couples and their pets in the Bay Area, I noticed a few fun patterns of when clients tend to reach out. My clients want to celebrate family milestones, capture sweet everyday moments, have professional photos of their favorite locations, and spend time with their senior pets.

9 Reasons Couples Book a Pet Photography Session

1. Celebrating Senior Pets – While the reason for the session might feel sad, these end up being so sweet and so fun. Your pet is older and maybe was recently diagnosed with an illness.  We might be celebrating your senior or an end-of-life session. Suddenly, you only want to spend time with your pet and capture professional photos you can hold onto for many years. My clients can focus on loving their pets while I photograph and document their special bond.

2. New Puppy Session – Puppyhood is such a fleeting time! They’re only so little for such a short amount of time. Before you know it, they won’t be a puppy anymore, so a puppy pet photography session is perfect. We not only capture your sweet little puppy but document the excitement of everyone in your family. As your puppy grows up, you’ll have these adorable “newborn” photos to treasure.

3. Welcoming a New Puppy to the Family – Maybe you already have a dog and welcoming a new puppy or dog to the pack. After everyone is settled in, let’s document your growing family and showcase your pets’ amazing bond with each other and their people.

4. Dog’s First Birthday Photography – Your dog just turned ONE! Let’s do something fun to celebrate your pup’s birthday. We can plan a session at your favorite location or at home doing what you love together. As your pup grows up, you’ll love having these images from their “childhood.”

5. Pre-Wedding Celebration – This one is really special! Let’s say you have your wedding coming up, but because it’s far away or a destination wedding, you cannot bring your dog. I had a sweet couple book a session with me that was sort of an engagement shoot that included their dog. After that, we created an album that they could bring to the wedding and still include their dog on their special day.

(Bonus – Are you including your dog on your special day, and do you want to make sure you can get some images to remember the moment? I know your wedding photographer is amazing and will get great photos, but consider hiring a pet photographer to come to the wedding and grab a few photos of your pup! I’d love to do this for someone in the Bay Area. Please contact me with any questions.)

6. Celebrating a Family Milestone/Anniversary – What better way to celebrate a family milestone than a professional photography session? I had a couple reach out because it was their 10th wedding anniversary, and they wanted a photoshoot with their beloved dogs. What milestones do you have coming up? It could be a wedding anniversary, moving from an area, becoming debt-free, or buying your first home. What can we celebrate?

7. Holiday Cards – These aren’t your standard holiday card photos! We want to document a family image that you can treasure and create beautiful holiday cards for any of the major winter holidays. Ask me about my Bite Size Snack session! This a limited, shorter session that includes a couple of digital files would work perfectly if you don’t need a full photo session.

8. “Just Us” Maternity Photos with Pets – It’s just been the three (or more) of you for so long, and now a human baby is joining the crew. Celebrating a maternity photo session with your pet is a fun way to document this time before everyone’s lives change forever.

9. No Reason Needed – Sometimes there doesn’t have to be a reason except that you love your pets so much and want beautiful images and artwork.

Your pet brings you joy every day. Don’t leave these images on your phone or computer! Imagine how much joy you’ll feel seeing their images on the wall or holding an album from our session together. There are so many benefits to printing your pet photos. Let me take this project off your plate by handling all the heavy lifting for you.
